The wind and the presence of bales of fodder are making it difficult to extinguish a fire that broke out this afternoon in the countryside of Noragugume, in the S'Abba Ardente area.
The Forestry Corps' first intervention involved ground teams coordinated by the Bolotana station, supported from above by helicopter launches from the Fenosu base.
But the flames continued their course northeastward. Thus, the fire front required the arrival of the second helicopter available at this stage of the season, based in Villasalto. Meanwhile, the Canadair aircraft from Ciampino Airport is awaited.
"The public is urged to exercise extreme caution, avoiding the areas affected by the fire and leaving access routes clear for emergency vehicles," the municipality said.
