Large fire between 554 and the Policlinico: buildings threatened, four helicopters and a Canadair in flight
The flames are being pushed in various directions by the wind: a massive deployment of the firefighting machinery is underway.A large fire broke out late this morning between State Road 554 and the Policlinico, on land near State Road 387, in the Selargius area.
A thick column of smoke is visible for many kilometers away: some buildings are threatened.
According to reports, the fire is primarily a brush fire, but trees and debris scattered across the large area are also affected. As the minutes progress, the fire, driven by the wind, is moving in various directions. The operations coordinator has requested the intervention of two helicopters from the regional fleet, a SuperPuma, a military helicopter, and the only Canadair currently in Sardinia, which departed from Olbia.
State Road 387 towards Dolianova and Soleminis has been closed to traffic.
The firefighters of the Cagliari command also participated in the extinguishing operations.
