Hidden cameras, more checks and patrols. These are the immediate countermeasures requested by Commissioner Giovanni Pirisi to combat the abandonment of waste in the city following the recent closure of the aggregate landfill in the “Su Berrinau” area.

Nuoro no longer has a landfill to deliver aggregates to since Tuesday and this has thrown the construction sector into chaos, with companies forced to deliver tens of kilometers away, Siniscola, Benetutti or Bolotana, with an increase in costs that for one meter cube of rubble can go from 10 euros up to 250 euros due to transport. Abandonment began immediately in the countryside where numerous cases of waste abandonment were detected in the city.

«The Municipality is well aware of the inconvenience caused to production activities, forced to transport and deliver inert construction and demolition waste to authorized treatment plants, some of which are several kilometers away - explains Pirisi - A discussion has already been started with the 'Regional Administration to identify alternative solutions, but in the meantime we ask everyone to respect the rules. Today I formally requested the police to strengthen their surveillance activity, in which the Local Police Command is already intensely involved. The video surveillance devices within the town center will also be strengthened, with the aim of limiting illicit activities."
