La Pelosa, Stintino's increasingly exclusive beach, has limited access and restrictions to protect its delicate ecosystem. A thousand spots, which could be booked online, sell out in about ninety seconds.
Some are "caught" by accommodation facilities, which enjoy priority if they are up to date with the tourist tax payment, the rest by tourists arriving mainly from Italy, but also from abroad, particularly Europeans from France, Spain, Germany, and a small portion from the United States and England.
For the remaining 500 spots that can be booked in advance starting May 13th—there's a maximum of 1,500—there's no more space for July and August, nor for the first two weeks of September, which have already sold out. Tourists will have to settle for the end of September or perhaps hope to catch last-minute cancellations. At the most popular beach in Stintino, restrictions apply, including smoking areas, and bathers must bring mats to lay out their towels to prevent sand from being swept away.
