La Maddalena, volunteers against plastic waste are back.

Two days dedicated to protecting the archipelago, with hundreds of volunteers ready to intervene between La Maddalena, Caprera, and the other islands . After the summer break, "An Archipelago Without Plastic"—the association dedicated to collecting waste abandoned along the coast and seabed—resumes its activities. The suspension during the peak tourist months was decided, organizers explain, to avoid further burdening the Moneta recycling center.

The restart is scheduled for September 26 , when the volunteers will be working in various areas of the islands of Maddalena and Caprera considered particularly degraded.

The main event, however, will be on October 10th with the seventeenth edition of "Arcipelago No Limits." More than 200 people have already signed up, from various locations in Sardinia and throughout the mainland. This mobilization will include four motor vessels—Consorzio delle Bocche, Consorzio del Golfo, Lady Luna, and Orient Express—approximately 25 inflatable boats, a GPD ferry with a detachable lift, as well as Coast Guard and Guardia di Finanza vessels. Numerous scuba divers and diving centers are also expected to participate. The event is sponsored by the Municipality of La Maddalena, the Archipelago National Park, and the Coast Guard. The boats will also reach Santa Maria, the island recently hit by a large fire, where they will stop for lunch. The inflatable boat crews will be distributed along the coasts of the various islands for cleanup operations.

Attendance has been announced, among others, by Mayor Fabio Lai, Deputy Mayor Federica Porcu, city administrators, representatives of the Coast Guard, the Financial Police, and the Park Authority . Before the start of the activities, a moment of silence will be held in the water in front of the little church of the Madonnetta, in memory of several members of the association who recently passed away.
