A blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Faravelli soccer fields, unused for 18 years, since they were built as part of the G8 summit. Now, they have been made available to the community following a redevelopment project carried out by the Municipality of La Maddalena and thanks to an agreement with the Italian Navy valid until 2043.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Fabio Lai, Francesco Maffiola, commander of the garrison and the Navy Petty Officers' School, Michele Esposito, delegate for Culture and Youth Policies, and Rosalba Di Fraia, councilor responsible for Tourism.

" A new public work delivered to the city, in this case especially to young people ," said Mayor Fabio Lai. The area, assigned to the Municipality of La Maddalena, has been completely redeveloped. "The more young people participate in sports, the fewer young people are on the streets. And this is a victory for everyone," the mayor emphasized.

"One of the driving forces behind our work is also to prioritize the well-being of the community in which we operate," said Commander Francesco Maffiola. "We have effectively provided the opportunity to redevelop an area that, since its construction in 2008, had never been used by us military personnel. We felt it was appropriate to find a solution to offer the community an additional sports space, in keeping with the municipal administration's strategy."
