It was a great celebration of music, "Batteristi in Piazza," an event dedicated to all Sardinian drummers, united by their passion for music. The event was yesterday, Sunday, May 3rd, in La Maddalena, in Piazza Umberto I.

Over 40 drums, side by side, played in unison a series of familiar tunes, popular pieces from the Italian and international music scene, with moments of genuine unleashing, as only they know how, creating a special atmosphere, as well as a great party. The stars were dozens of drummers of all ages, from little more than children to seniors, boys and girls, women and men, from all over the island and beyond, putting on a show, previously rare in Sardinia, that thrilled and engaged the large audience, made up of both locals and tourists.

The concept and organization were handled by the Maddalena branch of the Olbia-based association Centro Musica Academy Sonora APS. Singer Solosophia also performed during the performances. Andrea Pirredda, drum teacher at the Maddalena music hall and manager of the Sonora branch on the island, was very pleased: "After last year's success, we decided to continue: they really enjoy coming, and I see everyone enjoys it; we're continuing to make it a regular event."
