The free Italian language course hosted at the La Maddalena municipal library has concluded. The initiative involved around twenty participants, mostly from the island's Senegalese community.
A project born with the aim of promoting integration and full participation in social life through language learning. The initiative is part of the inclusion-focused activities promoted by the government led by Mayor Fabio Lai. Last year, the Municipality supported a multi-ethnic event that brought Senegalese culture to the streets through music, food, and traditions.
"I have always believed that inclusion is an important value in a modern and civilized community," says Mayor Lai. "Integration means welcoming people who wish to build their future while respecting the culture, traditions, and rules of their host community. Mutual respect is the essential foundation for peaceful and harmonious coexistence. The fact that the teachers offered their lessons free of charge is nothing short of admirable."
Words of gratitude came from Kadiff, president of the Maddalenina Senegalese Association. "The Italian language course was a crucial project for us because it fosters integration and helps many people feel even more part of the community." Kadiff also recalled the success of previous cultural exchange initiatives and emphasized the climate of mutual respect built over the years.
