The hearing to validate the arrest of the 47-year-old Alghero man accused of the serious episode of violence that occurred Monday evening in a home in Alghero was held this morning.

According to the reconstruction, the man allegedly kidnapped, tied up, gagged and beat his wife, then humiliated her by shaving her hair and eyebrows.

The man exercised his right to remain silent. Preliminary investigating judge Giuseppe Grotteria confirmed the arrest and ordered his detention.

The man was represented by lawyer Danilo Mattana, who, at the end of the hearing, withdrew his attorney. The 47-year-old will now have to appoint a new defense attorney.
