The two non-EU citizens accused of robbery and assault against a Sassarese were sentenced yesterday in court in Sassari to 5 and 4 years in prison. The preliminary hearing judge Sergio De Luca ordered this, in a summary trial, at the end of the discussion between the parties. The incriminating episode dates back to late November 2024 when two Gambian nationals, as reported by the indictment, attacked a passerby at night in via Padre Zirano . With the excuse of having a cigarette, the couple kicked and punched the man, spraying him in the face with pepper spray and stealing his cell phone and wallet containing the sum of 75 euros.
The victim called the police who, having received the description, within 20 minutes located the two in a street in the historic center and who had with them a balaclava and the spray.
The two lawyers of the 25-year-old, who received the heaviest sentence, and the 23-year-old, Andrea Devoto and Francesca Severoni respectively, responded to the speech of the prosecutor Maria Paola Asara by maintaining that the stolen goods had not been found on their clients and announcing an appeal against the sentence.
