Japanese longevity is supported by a diet based on tofu and seaweed, portion control (Hara Hachi Bu), and an active lifestyle. This is evidenced by studies on the formula for happy and sustainable longevity. In Osini, a delegation of scholars and experts on the topic of longevity found banquets laden with culurgionis, roast goat meat, casu agedu, and cannonau wine. Here too, in this town of 700 inhabitants, there is a high concentration of centenarians, and a conference was held specifically for centenarians and those over ninety.
Currently in the Blue Zone town there are 5 centenarians: Battistina Piras, 107 years old, Assunta Cannas, who turned 103 today, Cesare Serra (102), Vittorio Mura (101) and Eugenio Locci (100) . There was a period (recent) in which the community boasted 8 living centenarians.
"A dialogue has been established with Japan, which we will see how to develop. "It is clear," said Osini Mayor Alfredo Cannas , "that genetics needs to be explored. This is a great opportunity for Osini." The Eastern delegation, which will continue its research mission by meeting with local grandparents, is led by Kazuo Muta, a professor at the universities of Kyushu and Fukuoka, who arrived with a team of medical professionals. Andrea Fabbo, manager of the Ogliastra Local Health Authority, also attended the conference.
