"Jack was a defenseless and free being, capable of bringing joy and affection to the streets of our town." With these words, the mayor of Dolianova, Ivan Piras, expressed the entire community's outrage and grief over the brutal killing of the dog, who had long lived in the center of Parteolla and whom many residents had come to regard as a veritable mascot of the town.

"I immediately notified the police," the mayor continued, "who are already working to identify those responsible for this vile and cruel act. Whoever ran over Jack, leaving him to die in a terrible way without providing assistance, will have to answer for their actions.
