He was charged with robbery and kidnapping, for having participated, in December 2019, in the failed attempt to open the safe of the Conad supermarket in Ittiri.
Yesterday in court in Sassari, the man, a 48-year-old from Ittiri, was acquitted of having committed the crime after the closing speech by prosecutor Danilo Tronci, head of the investigation for the Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), and the speech by defense attorney Ennio Masu.
Seven years ago, several men armed with pistols and shotguns entered the business at dawn, detaining the employees. Their intent was to gain access to the safe, as per the indictment. When they failed, they fled. Suspicion focused on two individuals, who, however, were acquitted of the crime by a final judgment.
The prosecution recalled this precedent yesterday, having to conclude the same conclusion for the third defendant, as reasonable doubt about his responsibility had not been overcome. Masu similarly argued his client's innocence. The panel, presided over by Monia Adami, with Sara Pelicci and Stefania Mosca-Angelucci co-chairing, ordered his acquittal on the grounds of non-compliance.
