An Italian Air Force aircraft performed two emergency flights this afternoon to transport two young patients in serious condition and in imminent danger of death. The first rescue, an emergency medical flight operated by a G650 aircraft from the 31st Wing of Ciampino, at the request of the Prefecture of Sassari, concluded around 4:00 PM. The aircraft took off from Alghero Airport to quickly transfer a two-month-old baby girl, who had departed at 3:00 PM from the AOU of Sassari and was headed to Turin Caselle Airport for subsequent admission to the Maria Vittoria Hospital in Turin. The young patient was cared for by a specialized medical team.
The second lifesaving mission, carried out by the same aircraft from the 31st Wing on the reverse route at the request of the Turin Prefecture, concluded around 6:00 PM today. The G650 took off at 5:00 PM from Turin Caselle Airport to urgently transport a 9-month-old baby to the destination hospital in Sardinia , ensuring prompt and safe admission. Both missions, authorized as is customary for this type of public utility activity by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers—the body that manages and coordinates the activities of the state aircraft fleet—were arranged by the Situation Room of the Air Squadron Command in Milan.
