After months of announcements, postponements, and rumors, the Region today formalized with a decree the appointment of the new board of directors of the ISRE, the Higher Regional Institute of Ethnography of Sardinia. The institution will be led by Leonardo Moro , a Nuoro city councilor for the Riformisti-Pd party , who has already submitted his resignation from the civic assembly to take up the new role.
The appointment ends a long wait regarding the governance of the regional cultural institute , but not without controversy. The new board of directors is composed exclusively of men and does not respect gender quotas. In addition to President Leonardo Moro, the board also includes Gianfranco Cocco, appointed by the Regional Council, and Emiliano Fenu, mayor of Nuoro and an ex officio member.
The decree establishes a three-year term for the board of directors, a decision that inevitably reignites the political debate over female representation in regional public bodies.
