In Isili, the Roman Bridge of Brabacera is being reborn, with consolidation and enhancement works underway. "We are returning a jewel of our history to the community," said Mayor Luca Pilia, "a €100,000 investment for the safety and cultural tourism of the area." This is therefore an important project for the protection of Isili's archaeological and historical heritage, an infrastructural work from the imperial era that testifies to the historic Roman presence in the Sarcidano area and the strategic importance of our territory in ancient transport. The long-awaited project has finally allowed the removal of the scaffolding that had been on the structure for years, restoring the monument to its original visual beauty. The work, funded thanks to a contribution from the Autonomous Region, was carried out in close synergy and under the strict supervision of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape. The structural consolidation of the arches and wall facings was carried out to ensure the bridge's stability over time, and the riverbed was cleaned, essential for ensuring proper water flow and protecting the site from potential hydrogeological problems. A descriptive table and information will allow visitors, tourists and school groups to learn more about the history of the property and the local archaeological context could thus become a stop on hiking and archaeological routes in the area.
