The thirty-year prison sentence for unemployed Fabrizio Congiu, accused of the murder of his landlord, Venerato Sardu, was confirmed. Yesterday morning, the judges of the Court of Assizes of Appeal accepted the request of the Attorney General Luigi Patronaggio who had urged the confirmation of the first-instance sentence against the defendant, who got into trouble with the hypothesis of having tried to rob the owner of the building in which he lived, but ended up killing the 75-year-old after a brief fight.

The Carabinieri investigation began on February 16, 2023, immediately after the discovery of Sardu's lifeless body, in his building on Via Ogliastra in Is Mirrionis, lying on the floor in the bedroom of his home. During the inspection of the premises, the public prosecutor Andrea Massidda noticed a series of cameras that the 75-year-old had placed in the apartment, including one hidden under the bedroom television . The examination of that footage would have allowed them to trace the alleged perpetrator of the robbery with murder.
