One of the leading figures of the former Anonima Sequestri, Bernardino Ruiu from Orunia, now seventy-eight years old, sentenced to 26 years in prison for the kidnapping of Dino Toniutti on 26 December 1978, will be compensated by the Ministry of Justice with 63,231.94 euros for the conditions of detention endured for years and deemed inhumane by the European Court of Human Rights.

The judge of the Court of Cagliari, Paolo Corso, decided this, ruling in favor of the seventy-eight year old assisted by the lawyer Pier Andrea Setzu.
Specifically, the lawyer contested that none of the cells in which he lived had been provided with a space of 3 square meters for each inmate, they had only one window with metal grates, which were small and did not guarantee adequate lighting. The lawsuit also complained that there was often no heating, there were cockroaches, beetles and mice, the bathroom did not have hot water and you could only shower outside twice a week.
