The M5S symbol will not be present at the upcoming Porto Torres municipal elections, but a civic list will be present without any alliance with the center-left or even the center-right.
The city is preparing to vote with at least three opposing sides. "We've considered the possibility of presenting an independent proposal consistent with the values we've always defended," emphasizes Loredana De Marco , a member of the Five Star Movement. "The conditions aren't right to do so within the established process, so we've chosen to proceed responsibly toward the city."
No alliance with the center-left and the Campo Largo forces supporting Mayor Massimo Mulas . "This doesn't mean we're giving up on our commitment. On the contrary, together with other groups and individuals who share the need for a credible and coherent alternative, we're working to build a coherent progressive proposal, through a civic list with other progressive forces, capable of offering citizens a clear choice at the ballot box," add the representatives of the M5S territorial group. The Five Star Movement is choosing a different path, away from the center-left, with whom there would never have been a good understanding from the start. "Our premise was simple: to build an alliance within the city based on the same principles, the same values, and true political homogeneity, but obvious difficulties immediately emerged," they emphasize. "We have clearly expressed our opposition to the presence within the coalition of lists and individuals we believe to be distant from a truly progressive project. Despite this, we have requested meetings and discussions, put forward proposals, but the framework that has emerged has not resolved our concerns: we do not believe the political conditions exist to support Mayor Mulas's current coalition, because we do not agree with its approach, composition, and direction.
In the next few days, they will present the name of the list, the candidates, the program, and the project they intend to carry forward for the city.
