The program "Does Sardinian Cuisine Exist?" has become official. The project, conceived by the Pentumas restaurant in Puntaldìa, offers a series of gastronomic evenings inspired by the book "Grazia Deledda and Food: From Homer to the Present Day," has received free patronage from the Municipality of San Teodoro.
The opening evening, titled "Cooking with Grace," is scheduled for May 7th and will draw freely from the writings of the Nuoro-born writer, whose Nobel Prize centenary is being celebrated this year. Executive chef Gabriele Piga will host the event, joined on this first evening by Federica Ghiani of Osteria De' Mercati and Antonello Serra of La Genuina delicatessen in Sassari. Wines from Cantina Fradiles will accompany the dishes.
The spirit of the project is summed up in a deliberately provocative question: "Does Sardinian cuisine exist?" A question that highlights the lack of documented historical sources and invites reflection on the island's true culinary identity. It will therefore be a journey through literature and gastronomy, often-unknown curiosities and lavishly laid tables, raw materials and excellence, all enriched by the voices of Giovanni Fancello and Stefano Resmini and the music of Billie Holiday, performed by Rebecca Ginatempo.
"The goal is to project Sardinian cuisine into the future, making it a center of creative experimentation par excellence," explains Gabriele Piga. "This is a highly significant project that offers a unique journey between literature and gastronomy," echoes Luciana Cossu, Councilor for Culture for the Municipality of San Teodoro. "Promoting the region also involves projects like this, where culture is combined with the everyday food and traditions of Sardinia."
