The former Municipal Slaughterhouse of Sassari remains closed to the bewilderment of the Sassari residents. Anyone passing in via Duca degli Abruzzi or in via Zanfarino sees a scene that for two years has looked like a photo. The same. The municipal councilor Mariolino Andria unsuccessfully urged the administration: «If the construction works are concluded in June 2021 as per the official act of the Public Works and Maintenance Sector of the Municipality of Sassari, why is the structure given in concession to the Academy not opened? of Fine Arts?”.

From unofficial announcement to announcement every six months, the inauguration never took place. Despite the fact that the Academy itself had guaranteed a few months ago that the inauguration was imminent. On that area of 7 thousand square meters (3 thousand covered) so much has been magnified in 12 years of work with no less than 6 million euros financed with European and ministerial funds. The then mayor of Sassari Nicola Sanna gave the Ex-Ma to the Sironi Academy of Sassari on free loan for 30 years.

The idea is to make it a sort of campus for the arts and entertainment. The offices and other classrooms will remain in the historic building on the other side of the street, in via Catalocchino, which is undergoing constant restoration work.
