This morning (and tomorrow, Friday, for a second time) the association worked to clean up the Poetto beach in Quartu after the violent storm surge of the last few days.
"The environmental cleanup carried out this morning and afternoon at Poetto di Quartu has confronted us with a painful reality," the statement reads. "Human-caused pollution is a huge problem, one we can no longer ignore. A mountain of waste, including debris from the sea, was collected: plastic bottles, diapers, broken cans, and fragments of all kinds. Along with microplastics, all of this unfortunately continues to pose a constant threat to our sea's fauna and marine life. We also collected a quantity of fishing traps we never imagined."
But there's also the other side: "We also saw something powerful and moving. We saw how many people are ready to roll up their sleeves to protect the environment. Countless volunteers, from various municipalities, responded to the call for the emergency cleanup. Our most sincere thanks go to each of you for helping us clean up what 'Harry' dragged down with him."
