A choice of love destined to write a page in the history of Quartu, but not only. A dream come true for Michelle Ange Castaldi, originally from Marseille but in Italy for years, living in the city with her partner Martina Riva, mothers of little Michelle Ange (same name as the intended mother) born last June 26 after an assisted fertilization process started about a year ago, which follows the historic ruling of last May.
This morning the signature at the Town Hall. "A formalization of what already exists in everyday life" , the words of the two mothers after signing the birth certificate of little Michelle. A decision, that of starting a family, taken even before there was the certainty of the rebirth of double motherhood for children born to female couples sanctioned by the Constitutional Court recently: "It is a satisfaction, but above all a protection and a certainty for our daughter . Before there was a ghost parent, today there is a child who has the same rights as the others", they say. "The next step will be to get married, to further consolidate our family".
Mayor Graziano Milia was present: «We are proud to be the first municipality in Sardinia to register a homoparental birth certificate, a step forward towards a more inclusive society , in which love and parental responsibility are the true pillars of the family». With them, visibly moved, was also the municipal councilor for gender policies and LGBT rights Cinzia Carta: «It is an important day, not only for Quartu, because it affirms a fundamental principle: every girl and every boy have the right to be recognized, protected and welcomed in their uniqueness, regardless of the composition of their family unit».
