On the occasion of the World Day of Migrants and Refugees , Tuesday 1 October at 7 pm, the blessing of the Migrant Cross is scheduled in Porto Torres, a symbol of those who have lost their lives on journeys of hope, a witness to suffering, hospitality and solidarity, capable of uniting and bringing together people of different faiths.

A gift offered by the Port Authority of Turritana to the local ecclesial community .

The blessing will be preceded by the Eucharistic Mass, scheduled in the church of Cristo Risorto , presided over by the metropolitan archbishop of Sassari, Monsignor Gian Franco Saba, a religious ceremony concelebrated with the urban vicar of Porto Torres, Don Michele Murgia.

At the end of the mass, the monument, the Migrants' Cross, will be blessed and placed on the facade of the parish church in Piazza Petrarca.

The ceremony will be attended by civil, military and religious authorities, as well as some representatives of the municipal administration.
