The condition of the road surface of many streets in Monserrato is now known even to those who do not live in the town in the Cagliari hinterland but still go there frequently, even just passing through. There are areas where the conditions of the asphalt are increasingly precarious. Little-known streets whose residents feel like second-class citizens. One of these is via Don Bosco, located right next to the bridge where the light rail passes. The potholes are increasing both in number and depth, so much so that they resemble craters.
"The situation is getting worse month after month," say the residents, now resigned. "Nobody cares about us because we live on a side street." They launch yet another appeal for those in charge to take a look at the road surface, redoing it from scratch . The asphalt of the extension of via Don Bosco - precisely the beginning of via San Gavino Monreale, just before the roundabout - is also in poor condition. The drivers who drive there try to avoid the potholes as much as possible and hope they don't have to go to the mechanic to have the bodywork fixed or the wheel rims changed.
Those who live on Via Don Bosco emphasize the danger that those who pass by on motorbikes (such as delivery drivers and pizza delivery men) and pedestrians run . "There are elderly people who, when they leave their homes, risk falling into one of these potholes," observes Mattia Piras, a resident. Every time he has to call for home delivery of food, he warns the delivery men to be careful of the asphalt: "Here, everyone, both us residents and those who come here for one reason or another, slalom to try to avoid these big potholes."
