In Guasila, traditions never go out of style: the Palio di Santa Maria was a great success.

With just enough time to savor the success of the thirty-eighth edition of the Palio di Santa Maria, the Guasila Equestrian Association is already hard at work preparing for the next edition of the traditional horse race, held to celebrate Guasila's patron saint's day. "It's truly thrilling to see, at every edition of the race, the stands of the municipal riding school packed with spectators enjoying the spectacle with great enthusiasm," says Equestrian Club President Carlo Murru. The traditional Guasila horse race is an unmissable event for Sardinian enthusiasts and beyond. It's already time to start the countdown for next year's thirty-ninth edition.

The 2025 edition of the Palio was triumphantly won by expert jockey Beppe Ortu, who gave the Municipality of Ottana the victory aboard champion "Dehenoe." This is the same winning pairing that last year, also in Guasila, gave the Funtana Idda district the victory in the Palio dei Vicinati. Alberto Bianchina crossed the finish line second on "Efisio" from the Meloni stable, representing the Municipality of Pozzomaggiore. Andrea Cianotto took third on "Dinamica" from the Amici di Fonni stable, and Alessandro Mereu placed fourth on "Fedele" from the Contini stable, hired by the Municipality of Serdiana.

Exciting moments, especially thanks to Ortu's great comeback from the back, were experienced by the crowd in the stands, punctuated with expert precision and enthusiasm by speaker Giancarlo Murru. Until August of next year, for a whole year, the precious banner with the image of the Assumption, the symbol of the Palio, will be safeguarded by the Municipality of Ottana .
