"These have been difficult months, but many have been close to me and I had faith in the work of the Carabinieri and the judiciary: now I hope that there will be justice for my sister."

Andrea Deidda speaks in Elmas, in Piazza dei Gelsi, where a commemorative plaque was unveiled at the foot of a magnolia tree in memory of Francesca Deidda, the forty-two-year-old killed in May in San Sperate by her confessed husband, Igor Sollai.

The ceremony was organized as part of the project Sa Mariga de S'Aggiuru against violence against women, promoted by the municipality of Domusnovas, which involves, from November 2024 to March 2025, 15 municipalities in Southern Sardinia and the metropolitan city of Cagliari, in a traveling awareness-raising journey on the issue.

Piazza dei Gelsi was chosen because it is located in front of the house where Francesca grew up.
