Dozens of nails were thrown into the middle of the road and near the bike path, and a fire started near the schools. These deliberate acts were denounced by the mayor of Decimomannu, Monica Cadeddu : "This morning, in the early hours of the morning, between 5:30 and 5:45, our town was the scene of a very serious incident that deserves the strongest condemnation from the entire community."

Someone "deliberately scattered a significant quantity of nails on Via Repubblica , pouring the entire contents of a box onto the asphalt which was subsequently found and recovered by municipal staff near the cycle path."

"As if that weren't enough," the mayor wrote, " a fire was started near the schools at the same time . Only the timely intervention of the firefighters prevented far more serious consequences. Let's be clear: this isn't a prank and can't be dismissed as a simple prank. Intentionally scattering dozens and dozens of nails on a road means putting the safety of motorists, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians at real risk. A sudden puncture can cause loss of control of a vehicle, serious accidents, and, in the worst cases, put human lives at risk."

"Similarly," he continues, "setting a fire during a period of high fire risk represents irresponsible and dangerous behavior that threatens people, animals, the environment, and public property."

The Municipality is now seeking those responsible. Footage from the video surveillance cameras in the area will be acquired and analyzed, and any relevant information will be made available to the relevant authorities. "We cannot and must not tolerate this kind of behavior."
