It holds a world record, it's the private vessel that has reached the southernmost point on the planet, the Arctic P has been plying the waters of the Costa Smeralda for days with its adventurous and unique history. The ocean-going icebreaker tugboat, transformed into a luxury yacht in 2020, materialized in front of the Hotel Pitrizza.

The Arctic P is a veteran of the Antarctic and has entered the Guinness World Record for the furthest ever reached by a vessel: 677 nautical miles from the South Pole . Other vessels have subsequently done better, including the Italian icebreaker “Laura Bassi” (38th Italian Expedition of the National Antarctic Research Programme), but the Arctic P retains the record as a private vessel .

The ocean-going tugboat, completely transformed with a luxury outfit in 2020, belongs to Australian billionaire and explorer Gretel Packer. It has a range of approximately 17,000 nautical miles and features a beach club, gym, cinema, and water games. Passengers have access to an Endeavour and Donzi tender, a 10-meter Riva tender, jet skis, kayaks, and scuba diving equipment. Arctic P retains the characteristics of an icebreaker, and the sound of its two Deutz diesel engines can be clearly heard on board. It has seen Antarctica, Alaska, and French Polynesia, and has crossed the Panama Canal and the Pacific . Nearly 88 meters in length, it is a vessel for great challenges. For those interested, the yacht can be chartered for close to half a million euros a week.
