A place where hope takes shape and the darkness of violence finally finds light. This is the mission of “Beyond the darkness… hope”, the new listening and support desk that will be inaugurated on December 9th at 10 am, on the first floor of the building in via dei Passeri 3. Promoted by the “San Vincenzo” reception center of the Daughters of Charity nuns, the project deploys a team of local experts – lawyers, doctors, psychologists, pedagogists and volunteers – to offer listening and concrete help to those who are victims of violence, with the aim of breaking the silence and loneliness .

" We are witnessing a worrying escalation of episodes of violence, which do not only affect women but also men, adolescents and children ," explains Sister Anna Cogoni, head of the Center. "From bullying among the youngest to toxic relationships between sweethearts, up to domestic abuse, it is necessary to act promptly. Our helpdesk wants to be a point of reference for those who live in dangerous or uncomfortable situations."

Sardinia, unfortunately, is not immune to this social scourge. In the last 7 years, the Island has recorded 28 women killed . Sexual violence has an incidence of 9.37 cases per 10 thousand inhabitants, of which 3 out of 10 have minors as victims. In 2022, ISTAT recorded 613 reports of violence in Sardinia: over half for stalking, 30% for sexual violence, 18% for sexual violence. For this reason, the support path includes an initial telephone contact, followed by in-person meetings with specialized professionals, to create an intervention network that helps victims leave dangerous environments and access the necessary services.
