A thousand sea urchins, sold illegally, seized in 48 hours by the Coast Guard and the Municipal Police of Cagliari, during targeted checks against fishermen and illegal sellers.

In the first operation, the Coast Guard fined a street vendor from Quartu Sant'Elena for 1,500 euros .

In the second, together with the agents of the local police of Cagliari, the men of the Captaincy conducted investigations on another itinerant on the Poetto seafront , seizing, in addition to 500 illegally sold sea urchins , also some jars of pulp. Also in this case the fine was 1,500 euros.

However, the Cagliari traffic police also ascertained that the street vendor in Viale Poetto was in a public area without a permit. He was then fined a further 5,000 euros and his equipment and even his van, which was not in compliance with road traffic regulations, were also confiscated .

The sea urchins seized were all without traceability documentation, made mandatory by European and national legislation to protect public health.
