A foreign fishing vessel fined yesterday by the Cagliari Port Authority was fishing illegally in Italian waters . Approximately 220 kilos of humpback shrimp were found and seized on board the vessel. The operation was launched as part of controls against illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing, conducted by personnel from the Sant'Antioco Maritime District Office, together with fishing inspectors from Portoscuso, and under the coordination of the 13th Area Fishing Control Center of the Cagliari Maritime Directorate.

The 13th Center itself, through satellite monitoring systems, identified the fishing vessel while it was operating approximately ten miles south of Toro Island .

A patrol boat from the Sant'Antioco Maritime District Office, also carrying inspectors from Portoscuso, immediately responded. The vessel was intercepted at sea and escorted to the port of Sant'Antioco for further investigation. The captain was charged , and the entire catch, approximately 220 kilos, was seized.
