The Guardia di Finanza of Cagliari seized almost two tons of fireworks for violating the regulations established to protect public safety.
The complex investigation, delegated and directed by the local Public Prosecutor's Office, began a few months ago following the seizure of a pallet of 700 kilos of fireworks from Campania , identified by a local shipping agent who had detained and transported them in violation of the most basic rules on transport and personal safety.
From subsequent developments, it was possible to trace the Sant'Avendrace neighborhood to a fenced and walled area, also used as a storage center for explosive material and for packaging packages to be shipped and sold.
After observing suspicious operations, access to the area allowed the Guardia di Finanza to seize a further ton of fireworks, including over a quintal of gunpowder.
Particularly valuable was the collaboration guaranteed by the Bomb Squad of the Cagliari Police Headquarters who certified the dangerousness of the material. In total , over 1,700 kg of illegally held or produced fireworks were seized, of which over 180 kg of gunpowder. Four people were reported for manufacturing, possession, sale and transportation of explosive material, as well as for violations of public safety regulations, two of whom were residents of the metropolitan city of Cagliari.
