Iglesias, 75-year-old man killed after being hit by a truck on a crosswalk.

Giampiero Frau, the 75-year-old pensioner who was hit yesterday morning at a pedestrian crossing in Iglesias, died.

The elderly man was crossing the street with his wife on Via Venezia when he was struck by a moving truck. The impact threw him onto the pavement, while the woman managed to escape.

The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped to help the elderly man. An ambulance and then the air ambulance arrived immediately, transporting the injured man to Brotzu Hospital with severe head trauma and multiple fractures. However, the 75-year-old died a few hours after arriving at the emergency room on Via Peretti.

Local police officers and firefighters worked on site to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident.
