A 20-year-old shepherd resident in the city was arrested yesterday evening by Carabinieri officers from the Iglesias company's operational and mobile unit, charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

The operation was triggered during a routine check on Via Domusnovas. Officers, on patrol, noticed the young man driving a small car and stopped him for a routine check. His nervous demeanor and haste to complete the check aroused the Carabinieri's suspicions, and they decided to investigate further.

During the search, the 20-year-old was found in possession of 21.5 grams of cocaine and €230 in cash, divided into banknotes of various denominations, evidence deemed consistent with drug dealing. A subsequent house search yielded a precision scale, completing the evidence.

The young man's legally owned weapons were confiscated, along with the relevant permit. After the usual formalities at the police station, the twenty-year-old was taken to his home under house arrest, pending trial in a fast-track trial ordered by the judicial authorities.
