Two new trains arrived yesterday from Cagliari, placed on the ARST railway line between Macomer and Nuoro. In the coming days, after testing and staff training, the two trains will begin operating, facilitating connections between the two capitals. These are two new, state-of-the-art hydrogen trains, purchased by ARST with a regional investment of €29 million. The trains, part of the technological renewal of the secondary railways, will improve the sustainability and comfort of travel on the narrow-gauge network. The hydrogen trains will replace the current diesel trains. To upgrade the line, work has been underway for several months to build a green hydrogen production plant to power the new trains. This represents an important step in the ecological transition strategy. The production plant is being built within the ARST railway area, on the outskirts of town, next to the line to Nuoro.
