The Regional Administrative Court (TAR) has suspended the first two days of partridge, hare, and wild rabbit hunting. The administrative judges have partially granted the preliminary appeal filed by the Legal Intervention Group against the 2026-2027 regional hunting calendar, suspending the hunt for Sardinian partridge, Sardinian hare, and wild rabbit on September 20 and 27.

The president of the second section, Tito Aru, deemed there to be a risk of serious and irreparable damage to the fauna . A key point concerns the ISPRA opinion of July 22, which indicated that hunting for the three species would begin on October 1. It also noted that it had not received the results of monitoring over the past few years and was therefore unable to provide a reasoned opinion on the culling plans proposed by the Region.

The administrative appeal was filed by the legal intervention group led by attorney Carlo Augusto Melis Costa. At the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, the Cagliari District Attorney's Office is representing the case, while the Region is represented by attorneys Roberto Silvio Murroni and Mattia Pani.

According to the TAR, the complaints regarding the lack of proper investigation and reasoning merit further consideration, also in light of the precautionary principle. For this reason, it was deemed preferable to block the first two days of the calendar.

The suspension is temporary: the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) has scheduled a final hearing for September 30th, when the matter will be examined jointly. Forestry rangers will monitor compliance with the ban for the first two days.
