Yesterday afternoon, a patrol from the Sinnai Forestry Station rescued two hikers missing in the Sette Fratelli forest. They operated in a rugged area on a day classified as code orange due to high fire risk.
The operations, which began around 1:00 PM, took place in a particularly rugged, rocky landscape, characterized by ravines and dense Mediterranean scrub. At approximately 4:10 PM, the two hikers were spotted and rescued in Baccu S'Arridellaxiu, in the municipality of Sinnai, and subsequently returned to their car on Campuomu. Both were in good physical condition and did not require medical assistance.
Operations of this type, the Forestry Corps reports, are particularly critical "as they are carried out at the height of the firefighting campaign and in conjunction with maximum operational effort by personnel on the forest fire front."
