The heat is still intense, but it's fading. Temperatures are expected to drop tomorrow, returning to seasonal averages of minus 10 degrees Celsius (minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit) compared to the past few days. And with the cooler temperatures, thunderstorms are also arriving.

The extent of the storm is uncertain. Some model projections indicate the possibility of very heavy rains, accompanied by strong gusts of wind with Mediterranean cyclone intensity, for the central and northern parts of the island, due to a front advancing from the Atlantic. Others predict a reduction in intensity before the storm reaches the Sardinian coast.

Meanwhile, the Civil Protection Department is taking action and warning the public: the decentralized functional center of ARPAS has issued a yellow alert for the Oristano area, Logudoro, and all northwestern areas of Sardinia.

The weather is expected to worsen between midnight and dawn tomorrow, Thursday, September 10. Rain is also expected this afternoon in Gallura, Baronia, and Ogliastra.
