A hot coffee, an informal atmosphere, and the opportunity to receive clear information on a sensitive yet fundamental topic: organ, tissue, bone marrow, and blood donation.

Thus was born "Cuore di Barbagia," the new awareness campaign of the ASL 3 of Nuoro, which will kick off on Wednesday, October 15th in the lobby bar of the San Francesco Hospital.

Every 15th of the month, residents will be able to meet with Nuoro healthcare experts for an open and unbiased conversation. A new, direct, and engaging way to introduce the public to the world of blood donation, overcoming doubts and uncertainties over a cup of coffee.

Three key figures in the sector will be available to the public: Pierina Ticca, head of the Local Hospital Transplant Coordination; Angelo Palmas, director of the Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Center; and Adriana Ibba, acting director of the Immunotransfusion Medicine Department.

The project's inauguration, scheduled for October 15th from 9 to 11 a.m., will also feature the special appearance of ASL Commissioner Angelo Zuccarelli, the promoter of the initiative, inspired by the "Donor's Coffee" campaign, which began at the Cardarelli Hospital in Naples and has now been reimagined for the local community.

"Cuore di Barbagia," explains Zuccarelli, "is designed to involve all hospitals involved in blood donation. It's a simple but effective tool to raise awareness of the importance of giving and explain how even a small gesture can save a life."

The name chosen for the campaign, as Zuccarelli continues, is the result of the intuition of Dr. Pierina Ticca : "It recalls not only the geographical location of the hospital, in the heart of Barbagia, but also the great generosity of this area, which has always been distinguished by its sensitivity and solidarity."
