Over 13 million euros to reduce waiting lists on the Island . This is what has been allocated by the Regional Council of Sardinia with the aim, as specified by President Alessandra Todde, of " offering effective responses in a short time, especially where the critical issues have accumulated the most, and making the appropriate corrections for the future".

"This is - Councilor Bartolazzi also specified - an extraordinary measure, that is, it refers to a specific period and is aimed at substantially recovering waiting lists in our region . The allocation just approved establishes a further allocation of resources in addition to those already present in the last budget adjustment precisely on the specific issue of containing waiting lists. Our objective is to offer the population effective responses in a short time, impacting on the sectors where the critical issues have accumulated the most and monitoring the results over time, so as to be able to make the appropriate corrections if necessary".

Specifically, the funds will be divided in two directions: 7 million and 600 thousand euros are allocated to public facilities, of which 10% (761 thousand euros) will be allocated to the provision of colonoscopy services, which are most critical in terms of waiting lists. The remaining resources will be distributed according to the criteria of the Regional Health Fund with priority, among others, to diagnostic imaging, cardiology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology, hospitalizations for surgery, orthopedics and urology.

Then there is the funding destined for accredited private facilities: 5,440,000.00 euros will be assigned to the Regional Health Authority (ARES) for the purchase of services under an agreed regime , with a share divided in the order of 50% for the purchase of specialist outpatient healthcare services and 50% for the purchase of hospital services according to the same priorities already listed.

"The resolution approved by the council - Bartolazzi added - also includes incentives for doctors , with an increase in hourly compensation of up to 100 euros for outpatient specialist doctors who will join the company projects for the recovery of waiting lists". "Particularly important - continued the representative of the council Todde - is the aspect of monitoring. An ex ante and ex post observation that will allow the funds to be channeled in a targeted and effective manner towards those areas and services that present the greatest critical issues in terms of waiting".

To support employment through "the job placement of unemployed men and women in the social-health sector and at the same time help address the difficulties related to staff shortages - added Todde - we are investing 18 million euros to finance the activation of Cantieri occupazionali : 9 million for 2024, and another 9 divided between 2025 and 2026. The resources allocated to qualified unemployed men and women, social-health workers and nurses, will be used to activate projects at the ASL for social-health integration and support for assistance and care services within hospital facilities. We have also decided to send a strong signal by supporting with approximately 600 thousand euros the Anti-Violence Centers and Shelters , which help women victims of violence, and also the Respiro attivo project aimed at "special orphans".

Health authorities will now have to update their waiting list recovery plans within 15 days.
