55% of Italians live in regions with satisfactory results for health protection, while for 45% of them things are not entirely going well. These include healthcare users residing in Sardinia, where the "performance" index of healthcare services and more generally of health protection services.

The critical issues emerge this time from an analysis of the "Opportunities for health protection in the Regions" , conducted by 104 experts grouped by Crea (Centre for applied economic research in healthcare) , which involved institutions, company management, healthcare professions, users , medical industry.

The results of the survey reveal an Italy split in half . In detail, the regional analysis shows an Italian territory divided as follows: Veneto, Piedmont, Bolzano and Tuscany (over 13.3 million inhabitants) promoted with overall levels of health protection better than the others and with a performance index that exceeds 50 % of the maximum level (60%, 55%, 54% and 53% respectively).

Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Trento, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Valle d'Aosta, Marche and Lombardy (19.3 million inhabitants) promoted, but with the "sufficiency" that configures performance levels between 45 and 50 percent. “Postponed” with levels between 37% and 44% are Sardinia, Campania, Lazio, Umbria, Abruzzo and Puglia (around 18.9 million inhabitants).

Finally, four regions are considered highly insufficient (with a performance level lower than 35%), namely: Sicily, Molise, Basilicata and Calabria (approximately 7.5 million inhabitants).

Returning to the island, the analysis - which is not limited to the evaluation of the health and economic aspects, but also analyzes the social and equity aspects of care - was conducted on the basis of 20 indicators divided into five points: equity, appropriateness, outcomes, innovation, economic-financial and social.

According to the report, the share of people who give up treatment due to economic problems, distance and waiting list is bad in Sardinia. The implementation index of the oncology network is not good either.

Among the sore points is also the item "life expectancy without functional limitations over the age of 65". And also in red is the rate of non-self-sufficient over 75s in residential social and healthcare treatment and the rate of adherence to prevention.

On the other hand, public health spending per capita is good compared to the European average. And Sardinia was also promoted for priority services carried out on time and for the share of interventions carried out with micro invasive techniques.

Finally, the rate of disabled or elderly people who receive home care integrated with health services and the rate of weak or at-risk people who receive interventions for social integration are also good.
