One hundred million euros : this is the amount that the Democratic Party group in the regional council—pressing the government led by Alessandra Todde—is urgently requesting be allocated through a budget amendment . The goal is to support the island's healthcare facilities, designating the intervention as a top priority for the entire regional council. The request came after a meeting of Democratic regional councilors along with the relevant councilor and vice president of the executive, Giuseppe Meloni .
"There are very urgent measures specifically for healthcare facilities, amounting to close to €100 million," commented group leader Roberto Deriu at the end of the internal meeting, "and it is urgent to allocate these resources through the budget amendment , which therefore becomes the priority of the majority and, if the arguments it spreads are true, also of the opposition. The Regional Council," Deriu added, "is therefore called upon to fully commit to passing the amendment within a short timeframe, as soon as the council's proposal is available." This message, defined as a "priority," has already been sent to Governor Todde to serve as a wake-up call with the aim of implementing "all necessary measures to quickly and effectively achieve these objectives."
A signal that even the minority immediately seized upon to capitalize on the moment: " The Democratic Party and Todde are at loggerheads again ; it's irresponsible to keep the revenue dispute stalled," emphasized Fausto Piga, deputy group leader of the Italian Democratic Party (FdI), in a statement. "Announced in January as imminent, immediately after the budget, we're in April and it hasn't even been approved by the government," Piga recalls. "Now even the Democratic Party has noticed the embarrassing inaction that the opposition has been denouncing for months and has joined in with yet another ultimatum to the government to urge immediate approval of the budget. However, we no longer believe the Democratic Party's ultimatums; they're the usual penultimate measures. People raise their voices a bit, but then the Five Star Movement brings everyone back into line."
In recent weeks, the roadmap for the budget change had been dictated by Meloni herself: "Approval by the Council before Easter, consideration by the Budget Committee in the second half of April, and final approval by the Regional Council by May." But the resolution has not yet been approved by the executive branch.
