This is the scenario that lies ahead for the Marino hospital of Alghero with the management, from 1 January, of the University hospital of Sassari. Furthermore, from the same date, the company in viale San Pietro was also assigned the management of the Covid department.

The structure “is destined to become the regional training center, also favoring the activation of a development pole of regional importance for innovative orthopedic surgical technologies in the field of robotics - explained Aou -. The recent acquisition of the latest generation orthopedic robots will give the company a boost towards technological innovation and precision surgery ".

"We are talking about a new future for the Marino hospital of Alghero - says the general director of the Aou of Sassari, Antonio Lorenzo Spano - which will benefit from a new structure aimed at both safeguarding its important history in the orthopedic and trauma field and a new path in robotic orthopedic surgery that will guarantee an even more important future for the Marino hospital. Beyond this - he adds - there will be an enhancement and strengthening of functional rehabilitation, also closely related to the discipline of orthopedics, which will give important support to the whole company. The Marino departments will be part of the second level Goddess of our company and will also be functional for the classification as a first level Goddess of the civil hospital of Alghero which will acquire more performing and efficient departments, with a view to health services for the city Catalan and northern Sardinia definitely strengthened compared to the past ".

As for the Covid department of the Regina Margherita, there are 45 ordinary beds that can be doubled. And “as long as a low intensity ward is needed, Covid will be hosted at the Marino. A situation that will allow the Aou of Sassari to enhance the management of Sars Cov-2 disease in the north of Sardinia ".

Meanwhile, the company in viale San Pietro has arranged for the temporary assignment of medical and nursing staff to the Regina Margherita hospital in Alghero. The department's activities will be managed by the Infectious Diseases structure, coordinated by Professor Sergio Babudieri.
