A head-on collision occurred between two cars on the Orientale road, south of Tertenia, on the administrative island of Osini. The impact was so violent that drivers who witnessed it feared a tragedy. However, the two women injured in this afternoon's accident are facing a long prognosis. Both Spanish women on vacation in Sardinia were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The most seriously injured, a 42-year-old woman, was transported to San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro aboard Echo Lima 3, the Areus helicopter that took off from Elmas base. She suffered thoracoabdominal trauma and a probable splenic injury. The friend traveling next to her is suspected of having a fractured pelvis.

The three members of the Monastir football coaching staff, who were traveling in the other car and were headed to Lanusei (the friendly match was canceled), were unharmed. Traffic was disrupted for a long time. Emergency medical services, Carabinieri from the Jerzu branch, and Lanusei firefighters were on the scene.

After closing the road in both directions at kilometer 93,200, Anas then reopened the road.
