The Carabinieri of the Cagliari Mobile Radio Section arrested a 27-year-old man of Algerian origin, believed responsible for the crime of aggravated theft.
The military intervention began late yesterday afternoon at Poetto beach, following a report from a Lombard tourist whose backpack containing various personal effects and devices, including a smartphone, had been stolen shortly before.
It was the smartphone itself that "betrayed" the thief: the military located it using the GPS system, thus tracking down the culprit, aboard a public bus, on Via Bonaria.
The stolen goods were recovered and returned to their rightful owner, while the arrested man was placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authorities.
