He hits a car and flees without providing assistance: a twenty-eight year old unemployed man from Sinnai, the protagonist of a serious episode that occurred late yesterday evening, was tracked down and reported by the Carabinieri of the Selargius station.

According to the reconstruction, the young man, driving an uninsured Peugeot 106, crashed head-on into a Peugeot 207 driven by a forty-eight-year-old from Settimo San Pietro, along via Iglesias. After the crash, instead of stopping to provide help, the twenty-eight-year-old abandoned the car and fled on foot, leaving the other driver injured in the passenger compartment.

The rescue was immediate: 118 transported the forty-eight-year-old to the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari, where he was treated and discharged with a prognosis of several days for multiple bruises.

The Carabinieri intervened at the scene of the accident, seized the Peugeot 106 and immediately began the search for the person responsible, thanks also to the testimonies collected and checks on the vehicle's documents.

This morning the fugitive was tracked down and reported to the judicial authorities of Cagliari on charges of failure to provide assistance and driving without insurance.
