He had managed to escape the raid by the investigators of the Cagliari Flying Squad and the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, at the end of the "Cold Spring" operation which had led to the dismantling of two alleged criminal organizations and the arrest of 27 people.
Yesterday, however, in the Alghero countryside, the investigators of the widespread crime section of the Mobile arrested the 37-year-old Michele Caddeo from Cagliari, untraceable since May.
In the house he had rented, in which he lived, the men of the manager Fabrizio Mustaro also recovered 3 kilos and 600 grams of cocaine, 4 kilos and 800 grams of hashish and 10,300 euros in cash. The hypothesis of the investigators is that the drug, with an estimated value of nearly one million euros, could have come from Cagliari but was destined to supply the evenings of the Alghero nightlife.
The 37-year-old, defended by the lawyer Anna Maria Busia, was immediately transferred to Bancali prison. In the refuge home of the young man who had escaped the execution of the May precautionary measure, the agents of the Flying Squad also found books on the Sardinian mafia and banditry . 200 men were involved in the raid by the Cagliari district anti-mafia directorate. The investigation was coordinated by the deputy prosecutor of the DDA, Gaetano Porcu, who had obtained from the judge Giuseppe Pintori the precautionary custody order for 27 people, 23 in prison and 4 under house arrest.
During the investigations, which lasted two years, 36 kilos of very pure cocaine had been seized, but according to the investigators the trafficking would have involved over 200 kilos for a turnover of 25 million euros.
Congratulations to the agents for the results of a series of investigations recently came from the commissioner of Cagliari, Paolo Rossi: «A applause to the investigators of the Flying Squad who in a short time arrested a person accused of murder, arrested seven people after a robbery with knife and now found a fugitive. My personal appreciation and gratitude go to them for the work they are carrying out, and that of the administration I represent».
