Judge Caterina Interlandi, president of the Tempio Tribunal, sentenced the well-known Porto Rotondo real estate agent, Gigi Bardanzellu , to five years and two months in prison.

The sentence also includes the revocation of the driver's license and a ban from holding public office for the duration of the sentence.

The man, defended by lawyer Luisella Corda, was found responsible for aggravated vehicular homicide . The events date back to March 13, 2021, and occurred just outside Olbia. Bardanzellu was held responsible for the head-on collision that cost the lives of Antonello Derosas , 62, from Olbia, and Mario Marrosu , 47, from Sassari.

The victims were traveling a Panda on State Road 125 (one of the entrances to the Gallura city) and were hit, according to the indictment, by Bardanzellu's Renault.

According to prosecutor Daniela Fiori, the man left the 125 after the accident and disappeared. He was found by the Porto Rotondo Carabinieri 24 hours after the tragedy, in an apartment in the tourist village.

Lawyer Luisella Corda stated that it was the Panda that invaded Bardanzellu's lane and that the man in no way ignored the accident; instead, he reached his home, in a state of confusion, after ascertaining that 118 had been called.

Antonello Derosas' family, assisted by lawyers Antonello Desini, Salvatore Salaris, and Agostina Ruggero, has filed a civil lawsuit.
