He felt ill while swimming and risked drowning .
A 13-year-old boy from Cagliari is hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Brotzu hospital due to the onset of drowning .
The boy was on the beach at Poetto with his parents at the height of via Isola di San Pietro last night around 10pm. He dived in for a swim but after moving away he felt ill , unable to return to shore.
The 13-year-old was rescued by his family members who called 118. The Carabinieri of the Cagliari Company arrived on site together with the ambulance.
The doctors performed resuscitation maneuvers and urgently transported the boy to Brotzu where he is now hospitalized in serious conditions.
